Internal compiler error (also known as ICE) means your compiler just corrupted 
(or crashed). Either because you feed a lot of junk into it or just due to 
bugs in the compiler (or it's build configuraton).

Still you might find the T2 SDE of help in order to cross build modular X:
  http://www.t2-project.org/

That is not suppost to be evil marketing, but just a hint to an Open Source 
(GPL in this case) project that manages to configure GCC cross builds quite 
well and supports a wide variety of pacakges, including (of course) modular 
X.
