Xorg 7 is eating memory and xcompmgr is slowwwwwwwwwww

Hi all,
Currently using Xorg7, I notice after some time running X my memory
entering swap (Have 512 Mbs RAM), using fluxbox and I get from top:
13107 root 15 0 115m 67m 5788 S 54.1 13.5 14:20.38 X
This is, I think, unacceptable and probably a problem with X.
Another issue for me is running xcompmgr -c, when I do top xcompmgr
eats 99.9% of CPU and gets PC totally unusable.
Any ideas why?
Here some info: Laptop FujitsuSiemens E7010, Mobility Radeon 7500,
running radeon kernel driver. Kernel 2.6.16, gentoo sources. xcompmgr
version is 1.1.2
