implementation? That makes it so much easier to convince others.

I don't understand what kind of support you're looking for. Don't pull a
Jon Smirl and expect everybody to suddenly drop what they're doing and
focus exclusively on something radically new. ;) Just keep doing what
you think is right, and once this Xggi or whatever shows the advantages
you seem so firmly convinced it will, more people will surely jump on.
The XDirectFB folks appear to be on a pretty good way, e.g.
