Sorry for the late response. I'm a bit behind on following the mailing
list ATM.

Bug report 6377 has a patch attached to it. I've asked for it to be
reviewed in bugzilla, but haven't got any response yet. IMHO this would
be important enough to be included in Xorg 7.1. But since the code that
introduced the problem was originally designed for a platform I cannot
test, I'd like this reviewed by someone competent. The relevant
developers are on the bug's CC-list.
