Ok, I'll give it a shot when I get home today.  If this is true with the default driver in xorg 7.0, then it will default to the clone mode.  IMHO the clone mode is useless except for a few special cases.  (Just incase, clone mode is the same graphics on both screens.  The driver will allow different different size screens and different scan rates in clone mode, but still the 2 screens will be identical graphics.)  Has 2 distinct heads been tested?
