weird ATI lockups

Hey all,

I am trying to get my FireMV 2400 working with the latest 6.6.1 ati
driver and Xorg 7.1 but i see weird lockups. For example restarting Xorg
causes a lockup, some other things like trying to start a application.

The part of the log that seems to be the first sign of real trouble is;

(**) RADEON(1): RADEONCloseScreen
(**) RADEON(1): RADEONDisplayPowerManagementSet(0,0x0)
(**) RADEON(1): RADEONRestore
(**) RADEON(1): RADEONRestoreMode()
(**) RADEON(1): RADEONRestoreMode(0x81f93e4)
(**) RADEON(1): RADEONRestoreMemMapRegisters() :
(**) RADEON(1):   MC_FB_LOCATION   : 0xff7fffc0
(**) RADEON(1):   MC_AGP_LOCATION  : 0x73ffefc0
(**) RADEON(1):   Map Changed ! Applying ...
(**) RADEON(1): Idle timed out: 64 entries, stat=0x80060140
(EE) RADEON(1): Idle timed out, resetting engine...
(**) RADEON(1): EngineRestore (16/16)

After that it hangs the machine hard (only powercycle or hard reset
helps). Sometimes like in the attached log file it sends out a bunch of
warnings like;

(EE) RADEON(1): Timeout trying to update memory controller settings !
(EE) RADEON(1): MC_STATUS = 0x01e1ff80 (on entry = 0x01e1ff80)
(EE) RADEON(1): You will probably crash now ...
(EE) RADEON(1): Timeout trying to update memory controller settings !
(EE) RADEON(1): MC_STATUS = 0x01e1ff80 (on entry = 0x01e1ff80)
(EE) RADEON(1): You will probably crash now ...

Until it than really does crash.

any ideas on what this could be ? Is there anything in CVS after 6.6.1
that fixed some thing like this ?

TIA,

Erwin
