The XFree86_VT root property got added to the XFree86 X server starting
from 4.4, and Xorg inherited it in 6.8.

On my laptop with Xorg 7.0, xprop -root XFree86_VT returns 
XFree86_VT(INTEGER) = 7
as appropriate.
