I seem to remember that when I had a a 702HT xorg interpretation of the
monitor DDC was caping frequencies to the limit supported by the screen at
its highest resolution (of course when you limit the resolution to
something lower, you can raise frequencies).

I don't know if it's a bug in xorg on in Iiyama's DDC implementation.

Unfortunately I haven't saved my conf of the time, but it *is* possible to
get nice refresh rates in xorg with these screens. I'd say you need to
either use noDCC, or a custom modeline, or both.

I know I did run my 702 for years at 1280x960 at 90 (100x100dpi). Switched it
to a widescreen LCD recently to win some space, but the new high-tech
gizmo "only" does 98dpi - much less nice for clear AA text.
