I don't want to debate the merits of a 3D GUI in this venue. Suffice it
to say that enough people are interested in this area to make it a
reasonable area of development. All the major players in desktop GUIs
(specifically Microsoft and Apple) are developing in this area.

This case is not too useful. But slanted windows are quite useful
for peripheral monitoring--they allow you to keep an eye on the window
while taking up less screen real estate.

The mobile phone CPU and graphics hardware in the year 2008 will
be fully capable of supporting 3D GUIs. Some phones are capable of
it now, although they are a bit underpowered.
