Hi, I installed on my Ubuntu Dapper the 'Battlehorse' debs someone
mentioned on this list, my graphics card is an Nvidia 5200 working on
nvidia's closed source drivers.
Once I shut down my standard xserver, from the shell I load Xgl with:
Xgl :1 -fullscreen -ac -accel xv -accel glx:pbuffer & DISPLAY=:1 xterm
and it loads without problems, once in I type:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/mesa/lib DISPLAY=:1 /opt/fdo/bin compiz gconf &
and finally:
DISPLAY=:1 /opt/fdo/bin/gnome-window-decorator&
Before this I had problems with the Pango modules this program needed
but I think I solved them with pango-querymodules >
/opt/etc/pango/config.file at least the program stopped throwing this
error.
After trying to load compiz at least three times with the error
GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap missing it finally returns without errors
and the background turns blue. So I guess that compiz is doing well,
the problem must be I suppose gnome-window-decorator that returns and
stays in the background without giving any visual feedback.
I have been looking for answers to this problem but I found nothing,
thanks in advance.
