You'd need to build the randr-1.2-for-server-1.2 xserver branch, get new
randrproto bits, build a new libXrandr and the randr-1.2 branch of the
xrandr client to see the whole list of modes. As you can see, xrandr
lists only a single mode per refresh, when you would see two mode lines
with xrandr --q12 with the above software. If you do manage to build all
of that and discover that the second 1680x1050 modeline does work, we
would add another quirk to the driver to flip the sync polarity around
so that the 'normal' 1680x1050 mode would work.

Oh, without RandR 1.2 in the server you'll get different behaviour. I
should fix that.
