SiS, DRI and DRM

Hi All,
  I am having problems with a sis300 agp graphics card.
  I compiled kernel 2.6.17 with Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) support 
for sis300/305 graphics cards. When the X server (X11R6.8.2) is started 
the DRI and DRM modules are correctly loaded. However, my OpenGL 
applications get wrong rendering (object surfaces seem to have wrong 
normals).
  If the kernel is compiled without DRM support, everything seems ok. 
But now, looking at Xorg.0.log I found an error message telling that DRM 
module was not found.
What is going wrong?
