Strange bug with mouse wheel scrolling

No go. My problem sounds like what others are reporting. Mouse worked OK 
with x.org 6.8.2, and worked OK with 6.9 sometimes.. First appeared 
using KDE only, now also happens with Gnome. Related to KDM, GDM, metacity ?
