Simultaneously with tagging 1.0.99.2, which was the branch point.  Pretty sure 
I mentioned this in the 1.0.99.2 release announcement.

server-1_1-branch, for the server.  Should be something else appropriate for 
the other modules, if they ever get branches.

The xorg-commit@ list does mention the branch name for each commit.
