I don't know if this is dealt with in the new release but i would realy
like to see the config files modular. As example:
/etc/X11/config/input/keyboard.conf
/etc/X11/config/input/keyboard2.conf
/etc/X11/config/input/mouse.conf
/etc/X11/config/misc/modules.conf
/etc/X11/config/monitor/general.conf
/etc/X11/config/monitor/lcd.conf
/etc/X11/config/video/vga.conf
/etc/X11/config/video/ati.conf
/etc/X11/config/video/nvidea.conf
/etc/X11/config/video/directfb.conf
/etc/X11/config/screens/default.conf
/etc/X11/config/screens/dual_head.conf
/etc/X11/config/general.conf
/etc/X11/config/dualheadati.conf
/etc/X11/config/foobar.conf
- Sections have been devided in directories for easy browsing.
- Each config can be replaced by install scripts without affecting the
other files. This way vendor specific configs can be easily included.
For example the ati binairy driver configs.
- The files in the config root are the server config's containing
#includes to the other config files which are used by the server config.
This way config files can be used by multiple server configs.
- It also makes it easyer for newcomer to understand the config because
the whole xorg config file is mostly to overwhelming.
- People don't need te give the whole xorg config on forums anymore.
Which i always find very anoying.
This is just a example. I didn't include all xorg config sections and i
got some wrong i think.
What do you guys think of this idea?
Johan
