MGA Millinium / Intel 815 - latest development version

As stated earlier, I am now attempting to use an Intel 815 Internal card
as primary and the Matrox Millinium G200 as PCI secondary. With the last
official releases, the MGA is not functional (blank screen) and
xorg.conf must be edited to increase resolution.

With the latest development installation (Fedora-devel) there is some
different and more usable reactions from this combination of cards. The
xorg.conf was setup when the only video card installed was the Intel 815
internal. Now with the MGA PCI video card installed, I am getting a
different reaction with the cards. Now, the Intel, set as primary goes
through POST, through grub loading, then partway through development
boot, the terminal switches from displaying text on the Intel to picking
up action on the MGA. After initializing of X, the Intel kicks in and
displays the GUI. The Matrox is dormant until I ctl-alt-Fn into a
terminal, then the terminal is active on the MGA and the Intel displays
where the display switched over from the Intel video to the Matrox card.

Reading the list, I recall conversations referring to the virtual
terminals getting cues from the kernel and the GUI getting accessed
through userspace methods. Is this correct, or were the references to
kernel control of the virtual terminals and xorg control of the GUI
misinterpreted? The symptoms that I see now seem to point to this being
somewhat on track.

How would I go about getting the virtual terminals and GUI in sync? I
did not try to adjust for dual head yet on the development release
because of previous problems with reduced resolution for the Intel. I
assume the settings are single head since I did not attempt to configure
dual head operation yet. (In development)

Thanks,

Jim
