I'd be tempted to say that doing a basic xorg install should work, and 
thus should not try to start an xterm on 'startx' if its no longer 
shipped. (aka a bug)

What about doing occasional source drops in the xorg tree instead?  And 
keeping the app installed by default?
I mean, the developers who use the xterm from invisible-island.net are 
smart enough to disable installing it for that?
