Based on what I saw in several channels there were some pretty serious
bot attacks running against several freenode channels this morning.

The one I personally witnessed as it was ended by one of the freenode
admins looked like this:

blandit praesent luptatum zzril deleni
<Bar456> t augue duis dolore te feugait nulla facilisi. Lorem ipsum

thousands of consecutive posts like the above ^^^^^

and then one of the freenode admins did the following:

- --- alindeman sets mode +q #rhel *!*@*.node.tor

this caused the following:

<-- Foo123 has quit (K-lined)
<-- Foo789 has quit (K-lined)
<-- Baz789 has quit (Client Quit)
<-- Foo456 has quit (Client Quit)
<-- Bar789 has quit (Client Quit)
<-- Bar456 has quit (Client Quit)
<-- Bar123 has quit (Client Quit)
<-- Baz456 has quit (Client Quit)
<-- Baz123 has quit (Client Quit)

So... is this the action of someone who is trying to censor the worlds
population? Or is it the action of someone trying to protect the
usability of their network?

Patrick? I think you may have jumped the gun a bit.
