moving hardware info into hal

I was wondering if someone is working on it.
What hardware information do we want to move?
only the screen and card names?do we also want to move the modelines and
allowed resolutions?

On the same note there are few screens that returns wrong timing info
I think we should add and exempt list for them with the correct values.
Where do you think it should be added?in the "old" way in the dcc or
with the move to hal?
