Know when last key was pressed

Hi,
Has Xorg  a mechanism to know when the last key was pressed?
I'd like to disable trackpad when the user is typing and this information 
would be useful. :)
Now I must poll XQueryKeymap and I'd prefer to have the timestamp of the last 
key pressed is this possible?
