Hey Benjamin,
I added your patch to the fedora rawhide ati driver and it seems to fix
the hard hang of my machine.
It does give a endless debug output (due to the RADEON_DEBUG define)
with looks like this;
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x88020140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x88020140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x88020140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140

(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
(**) RADEON(0): WaitForIdle (entering): 64 entries, stat=0x00000140
That stat 0x00000140 and 0x88020140 i see most, I also saw a few
0x8802613e since i have no idea what they mean i thought to just pass
that info to you, in case it is useful for something.
