Hi,
We would like to announce the first X at FOSDEM2006.
X at FOSDEM2006 consists of an X Developers HotHouse before FOSDEM and an
X.org DevRoom on FOSDEM 2006.
FOSDEM 2006 (http://www.fosdem.org/) will take place on February, 25 and
26 2006 in Brussels, Belgium on a campus of the Free University of
Brussels (ULB).
The X Developers' HotHouse will be a place where developers can meet
informally to discuss and hack together on X related code. It will
be held on Friday Feb, 24th 2006, at or near the FOSDEM location.
The X.Org DevRoom will take place on Feb, 25 and 26, 2006 at FOSDEM. The
organizers hope that this event will also help to bridge the gap for all
those people who are interested in the latest development around the X
Window System but are unable to attend the XDevConf in Santa Clara, CA.
We hereby invite everyone to come to these events.
http://wiki.x.org/wiki/fosdem2006 will contain the most recent and
accurate information about these events.
Both participation in the HotHouse and attendance of the DevRoom are
free. We do however require registration if you plan to come to the
HotHouse on Friday, as space may be limited. If you are interested in
coming please mail us as soon as possible.
DevRooms at FOSDEM are topic/project specific meeting places with
scheduled talk tracks. If you're interested in giving a talk you should
contact us before January 7 2006. Further information below (or on the
wiki).
Preliminary Schedule:

13.00 - 17.30: X at FOSDEM DevRoom and HotHouse.
A complete and detailed schedule will be created on the wiki, as and
when more details are known.
For the hothouse; seating and electrical and networking infrastructure
will be available. Participants should be prepared to bring along their
own equipment.
FOSDEM is an annual two day community event that attracts developers
from all over Europe and even beyond. Entrance and participation are
kept completely free. The fifth FOSDEM, last year, had between 3000 and
3500 particpants. For more information check out: http://www.fosdem.org/
For people interested in giving a presentation at the DevRoom:
- FOSDEM requires a schedule for their brochure, therefore talks
should be submitted before January 7th 2006. There still is some
time left for your paper, but a topic/title and a brief description
should be known as soon as possible.
- FOSDEM will provide a projector and networking.
- FOSDEM will also provide free insurance for your hardware. You will
learn the exact requirements for application when contacting us. Do
keep in mind that this only applies in the ULB buildings during the
FOSDEM event, it does not apply for the X Developers HotHouse.
If you want to register for the HotHouse, or want to give a talk in
the DevRoom, or just want more information about X at FOSDEM, please mail
us at fosdem-org at lists.x.org
Thanks,
The Organizers,
Luc Verhaegen, Egbert Eich and Keith Packard.
