Compiling xserver

Hi,

I'm trying to test  the experimental X server (kdrive) but I'm quite
novice in the subject. I downloaded from CVS the source tree but I
can't compile it the build script I downloaded from freedesktop ends
unexpectedly, and couldn't find any tutorial explaining the procedure.

I never worked with pkg-config and I don't know if I need some
previous adaptation of my installation (maybe something in the /opt
directory because I see the script sets the  PKG_CONFIG_PATH  variable
pointing at that place, but I've got nothing there).

I use Ubuntu 5.10 and as far as I know I have all the dependencies I
need to compile the tree.

Please tell me if this is the correct mailing list to post on this
topic or tell me where to ask and sorry if  the question is too basic.
