Xgl/Xegl future?

I think most people under estimate the importance of a pure GL-based
server like Xgl.
It seems much more simple and *unified* to me than using OpenGL based
rendering at the toolkit level. With Xgl you have only one rendering
context for all the desktop and 2D apps and additional rendering context
only for real OpenGL apps such as games.
Here's some well known advantages
- you have lightning fast double buffering
- Z-buffer take care of window ordering
There is still a big problem with a pure OpenGL X server. You need to
have rock solid and featureful OpenGL driver. For now this primarily
means Nvidia binary drivers and it is problematic.
