This makes me wonder ... is it XOrg's plan to make it so that GCC and GNU
Binutils becomes required?
Just two weeks or so ago, it was stated we should not worry about the GNU
auto tools because the resulting configure, et cetera, are not GPL'd. So
the tools required by the XOrg developers at this time are GPL'd, but we
should not force the end-users who want to simply build XOrg to require
more and more extra outside tools.
For example, BSD developers rewrote ucs2any (but not because of a
licensing issue, but because perl was not available).
Anyways, has the pkg-config developer been politely asked to relicense?
Also, there was someone (I think on xdg list) who had a rewrite of
pkg-config too.
