Alex,

Add the patch to bugzilla bug #971
http://freedesktop.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=971
which has been established to deal with reworking the input
stuff, and has Kristian Hogsberg's similar patch attached.

Note that there are two ways to go here:

1) another module in the current input scheme that deals with
/dev/input,

2) the more ambitious revamp of input devices we're planning,
dealing with hotplug, etc.

Are you interested in working on 2) with us?  This is not to
say that having 1) isn't also useful in the meanwhile...
