X.org 6.8 upgrade - glxinfo with fglrx driver crashes X ?

Good guess :). I am using Thinkpad T42p, which I think uses the same
graphics chip as T41p.

Another question, maybe slightly unrelated. Once ATI releases drivers
compatible with X.org 6.8.1 that supports 3d acceleration - does that
mean that Render would also be accelerated? Could someone please
enlighten the ignorant me as to what is the difference between 3d
acceleration and Render acceleration?
