Filesystems (and therefore ftp servers) and most package search engines
use alphabetical search order by default.

No, back in 2004. Sun's X11 tree for Solaris 8 is AFAIK (Alan may
correct me :) a heavily modified X11R6.4 version where the emphasis lies
on __HEAVY__ (for example the whole Xprint code is far far newer,
partially even beyond Xorg trunk. And then it has all-new Xinerama code,
threading fixes etc. etc.). It's origin is still X11R6.4 and that's what
sdtwsinfo reports here...
