kdrive composite

I don't know if this is the right place to ask...

I'm using kdrive with xcompmgr on my piii750 / mach64 gfx board.

X is usable, in 16 and 24bpp (xorg is slow as hell with composite on 
the same box)

The only problem is text scroll in kate / kwrite / kdevelop

How can I hunt this behavior, anyone got some clue ? everything is 
working fine, scrolling text lags a lot
