Shift+Backspace = server exit?

If you update by rebuilding and running make install, your /etc/X11/xkb/ 
files were not updated. The old XFree86 4.3 files are not compatible 
with current X.Org server (and with XFree86 4.4). So you need to remove 
  /etc/X11/xkb and redo make install in xc/programs/xkb.
