I understand, however most coherent desktop environments provide direct
interfaces to the CUPS spooler, and we are simply uninterested in
splitting the experience any further.  We made a choice to use CUPS and
the direct interfaces to CUPS from most applications and environments as
our default printing system, and this is a choice I am honestly
uninterested in debating.
