Well, you probably don't want a 30-bit window with an alpha channel,
but modulo adding support to all the necessary code paths (*), there
should be no difficulty in having 30 bit subwindows or a 30 bit root
window within the composite framework. No more than than there is
a problem with 565 (no alpha) 16 bit windows.

(*) Not necessarily easy because the RENDER *code* makes a lot of
    assumptions about being able to pack RGBA into a single word.
