... please beat the person who didn't annouce the change (or don't beat
anyone, just annouce such admin stuff _before_ you are doing it). It
took me some time until I realised that someone played around with the
CVS repository on the server. It would be very very nice to annouce a
downtime window (incl. the approx. amoumts of hours the service will be
down - that helps the people to decide whether they should "... make a
coffee and wait..." or can "... go home for the rest of the day...")
before such changes and another email when the change is completed (or
failed), including a small status report (that people can see what was
changed/updated and then have at least small hints for diagnosis when
they find problems which didn't happen before the change) - see
