You mean a special event for it?
what's the diffrent between that and zaxis?
or do you want to add zaxis and then be able to map it to diffrent events
which one of them can be the vertical wheel?
I think there are already mouse/joystick which support horizontal wheel
btw I don't see the day where people would use joystick for x that far
away:)

What xserver does with the keyboard now, you need it to add more
flexibility to what keyboard does what, (like above going to diffrent
display), or to change the keysym to unicode (if it's not in xkb?)
