[Xorg] is it possible to have keyboard layout detection?

While we are at this point, one more question:

Even without layout, it would be cool to perform automatic XKB
configuration for hotplugged (and not only?) keyboards. So in XKB
configuration repository, it could be handy to have IDs (USB ID)
associated with the relevant models. Currently, the universal XKB
registry file is xorg.xml (which eventually will become base.xml, I hope
- looking at xkeyboard-config). Would it make sense to put USB IDs (or
other HW-based IDs) into this file? Would this help kdb driver to
process hotplug better?
