It's not terribly difficult, though it's a bit ugly.  See cfb/ and cfb16/ for 
the technique, whic consists of making a Makefile.am fragment listing the 
source files, and then including that in the per-directory Makefile.am's with 
the appropriate CFLAGS settings.
