Xprint's use of FreeType: external symlink difficulties

Hi there, would it be okay if I prod you to discuss the symlinks issues
raised in the thread at
http://lists.x.org/archives/xorg-modular/2006-January/000889.html ?

As mentioned there, I've left two patches at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=603 that I'd like someone
to apply to resolve issue 1, and I'm hoping we could resolve the other
issues in time for X11R7.1.
With regards to issue 2 (ttf2pt1). I'm wondering if it would make sense
to copy the old directory xc/extras/ttf2pt1 over into a new modular
directory xserver/xorg/Xprint/extras. The alternative would be to
somehow rework what Xprint is doing with ttf2pt1 so it can use the
external (upstream) ttf2pt1 program, but I don't think that would be
easy to do since Xprint compiles it in as object code rather than
calling an external process, and extracts other information from it than
what the external program normally provides.
Thanks,
Drew
