./configure: line 20239: `PKG_CHECK_MODULES(XAU, xproto)'

Hi,

I'm trying to compile R7.1. However I get this message when I compile 
libXau.

./configure: line 20239: syntax error near unexpected token `XAU,'
./configure: line 20239: `PKG_CHECK_MODULES(XAU, xproto)'

pkg-config 0.21 is installed. It seems pkg.m4 is not read correctly. I 
tried ACLOCAL_PATH, and ACLOCAL_FLAGS, but both flags doesn't help.
I got all sources using git. build.sh stops after it fails on libXau.
Any idea?
