Um, I'm not that far (fonts). But no $(foreach...) is not supported in 
BSD make.

The  uses of foreach I've seen so far can be handled by standard 
variable substitutions as far as I can tell.

Otherwise, BSD make has its own loop mechanism though, but this would 
mean making conditionnal parts depending on the make style.
