Martin,
It is pity that there is no GX2 document in my hand, so it is hardly to have the conclusion that VIP is only supported by LX.
Actually Radeon does not have VIP module. It is specific for Geode LX I think to enhance the video overlay capacity. But the architecture of the overlay is nearly same in those two GPUs because they are following Xv rules.
