[Xorg-driver-geode] Any know installation issues on Geode with latest distributions versions?

Installing Ubuntu 10.4 and upgrading from that should work. Here, my
old ION603A was upgraded from that, one release at a time, and
currently runs the current 11.10 alpha just fine.

As for fresh installs, Ubuntu releases newer than 10.4 *might* have
installers that perform a summary check for an i686 or newer based on
the machine type advertised by the CPU and flatly refuse to install on
anything older. Needless to say, the LX should advertise itself as
686, except that it doesn't. If in doubt, it might be a good idea to
file a bug report on Launchpad against the installer and see what the
Ubuntu developers reply about what makes the install fail.

> Ubuntu 10.10 and Ubuntu 11.4 did not install on my Geode LX800 system, from your update below it sounds like it should be working on GeodeLX but not Geode GX2 or GX1.

> Generally-speaking, recent Fodera, Red Hat and Ubuntu releases don't support anything older than a Geode LX, due to their compilers producing i686-optimized binaries by standard, which obviously won't work on GX1/SC/GX2 hardware.  Meanwhile, Debian should work on any known Geode variant, at least as far as performing a basic installation goes, since they ship binaries compiled with more generic i486-optimized binaries.

Meanwhile, GX1 and SC support is entirely gone, because the old xf86video-nsc module no longer builds on recent X server cores.
