It's the same on 4.3.4 assuming that's old enough.

Also same with vblank_mode=0

I just noticed the last line of my first post needs correcting -

"mpv --vo=opengl works fine with anything other than --vo=vaapi"

should read

mpv --vo=opengl works fine with anything other than --hwdec=vaapi
