I believe this was actually hardware issue on my system. There is a lot of dust
build up on my GPU heat sync, preventing it from getting properly cooled. As a
workaround I've changed the kernel DPM settings, power_dpm_state = battery, and
power_dpm_force_performance_level = "low" (at least until I get around to
buying an air canister). I haven't had a crash in a week so far. Thanks guys.
