I've had this issue for years even while reading blog posts about the various
pieces involved being "fixed". I've even replaced the machine so not ultra
hardware specific anyway. Not sure where to file something like this as it
touches the bootscreen stuff, the login screens, and the face in to X desktop.
Feel free to nuke or redirect me to more appropriate locations.
