Just curious, are you using Kubuntu 13.10 with the stock graphics drivers, or
did you also add in either self-compiled drivers or the xorg-edgers ppa? 
xorg-edgers just pulled in the latest llvm/mesa/glamor code a few days ago,
which include llvm-3.4 (hopefully quite an improvement for radeonsi cards).

I'm currently using Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 with xorg-edgers and hand-compiled
glamor for testing with a phenom ii x6, radeon 7850 and a 1920x1200 monitor.
