I have the same issue with a RADEON HD6450. HD audio cannot be played back in
24p mode, but with 60Hz it is possible(Kernel 3.14, Openelec 3.95.6).

My receiver plays the HD audio fine using either Windows or playback over an
attached Bluray player.
