Having got the same issue (i also have a R522 from Samsung) I workaround this
problem by using the fglrx driver for daily usage. 
I ran a Test with the Kanotix CeBIT Special 2013 which has Kernel 3.8.2 and
Mesa 9.1 and i found that the problem still exists.
