Q: 'MacModel' replacement for radeon driver?

IOW, you don't see a realistic chance to get it working (again) on my box?  I.e. my only chance for accelerated graphics would be re-installing an old(er) Ubuntu (or Squeeze might work, too, as everything is a little older there)?
