I just applied the patch on an A4-4000 system to a Gentoo kernel 3.12.0 and it
didn't fix the artefacts for me. :(

Installed packages:
libdrm-2.4.49-r1
mesa-9.2.4
X.Org 1.14.3
xf86-video-ati-7.2.0
