Summary: ATI BARTS DPMS: backlight doesn't stay off
Product: xorg
Version: 7.6
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Driver/Radeon
AssignedTo: xorg-driver-ati at lists.x.org

QAContact: xorg-team at lists.x.org
Hello everybody!
Current setup:
xorg-server-1.10.4
xf86-video-ati-6.14.2
Sapphire HD 6850 BARTS
When DPMS kicks in (no matter what mode, e.g. standby, suspend or off) my
monitor's back-light switches off and then on again. The cycle repeats
endlessly.
Example:
sleep 1; xset dpms force off
Then my monitor goes black and a message appears stating "no input signal".
Then the back-light switches off. But after a second the monitor restarts as if
the status had changed (e.g. signal had returned) and the back-light switches
on again. Next comes the message again "no input signal". Repeat repeat repeat.
I also check if changing the power_method (dynpm vs. profile) makes a
difference, but it doesn't.
I have a HD 3200 on-board. When that card is enabled instead, DPMS works fine.
Thanks for taking a look!
Kind regards
Sebastian
